Spring is officially here, and it’s bringing beautiful, warm weather and a lively array of events with it. This April, take advantage of many fun activities taking place around the San Antonio and Boerne, Texas area.
March 30-April 1: Balloons Over Horseshoe Bay Resort
Welcome in clear skies with a morning hot air balloon lift-off. Along with the main event, they’ll be morning helicopter rides, rock climbing and trampolining, and fun for kids. Come back in the evening for a Jack Ingram concert and balloon glow finale. Cap off the experience by registering for a private hot air balloon ride.
April 7: Boerne Bierfest
Sample the best beers in the area at this popular all-day yearly festival. Ticketed adults can sample craft brewed beers from over two dozen wineries in a commemorative souvenir beer stein. Listen to popular local live bands as you sip and stroll.
April 13-15: Poteet Strawberry Festival
Strawberry fans from all over the state look forward to this annual event that kicks off the harvest of this delicious fruit in Texas’ strawberry capital. The large event kicks off with a parade and continues with 14 entertainment areas. Festivities include continuous popular live music, numerous vendors and food trucks, and a strawberry auction.
April 13-15: Buffalo Gap Wine & Food Summit
Make your spring sensational with charming outdoor festivities celebrating the incredible Latin American food and wine scene. Join special guests Chef John Cox and Casa Madero for a tour of the best of Latin American wines, Mexican Tequila, and Latin American foods. The event finishes with the popular Mexican street food party.
April 19-29: Fiesta San Antonio
This series of parties and celebrations honor San Antonio’s rich cultural traditions. Initially starting with a one-night parade in 1981, the now ten days’ worth of events includes land and river parades, a carnival, food and wine tasting, and numerous fiestas. With hundreds of activities taking place, there’s something happening for every family member.
April 24-27: A Night in Old San Antonio (NIOSA)
San Antonio’s historic art neighborhood, La Villita, hosts this popular celebration that first began in 1938. Celebrate San Antonio’s colorful history and help support local restoration and educational efforts while taking in four nights of entertainment. Amenities such as live bands, hundreds of booths, collectible souvenirs and crafts, and activities for kids will delight.
April 27-29: New Braunfels Crawfish Festival
With a mission in place to make this the best crawfish festival ever, this is a can’t miss event. Reserve your crawfish plate in advance for guaranteed delicious bites, and spend the weekend taking in live musical acts and playing games. Events include a Crawfish 5k race, races, cook-offs, and a Giant Jenga board.
