People & Lifestyle

Historic Boerne is favored by trendsetting, fashion-forward professionals and affluent, established families who prefer the suburbs over big city living. It’s ideal for growing families searching for that perfect mix of green spaces to play, highly-rated schools, and evening entertainment for the parents.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

When you’re not in the mood to cook at home, Boerne’s culinary scene is full of innovative and amazing eateries to choose from. The Dienger Trading Company, a quirky vintage trading post and bistro, serves up delicious, homestyle cooking from breakfast to lunch—and yes, that includes a long wine list and hand-crafted espresso drinks. The boutique at The Dienger Trading Company features a curated selection of women’s, men’s, and children’s apparel as well as home goods and furnishings.

Self-proclaimed all-American restaurant Peggy’s on the Green resides inside a 19th-century stagecoach stop, Kendall Inn. This historic building is the perfect setting for Chef and Owner Mark Bohanan’s elevated country cuisine. Swanky Cypress Grille offers a stylish, New American menu in a dimly-lit dining room. Their menu features delectable twice-baked potatoes, medium-rare steaks, and a hearty wine selection.

What Boerne lacks in a bass-thumping, crowded club nightlife scene, it more than makes up for with a large array of local wineries, securing Hill Country as one of the finest winemaking regions in Texas. Craft breweries are booming in Boerne, so grab a specialty draft at Cibolo Creek Brewing Co. or The Dodging Duck Brewhaus and Restaurant for dinner and a drink. Richter Tavern’s seasonal menu reflects locally-sourced, fresh ingredients and the masterful culinary prowess of Executive Chef Bill McGrory. As the oldest bar in Texas’ Hill Country, Richter Tavern has a distinct industrial-chic vibe. Below, Richter Cork and Keg is reminiscent of 1920s speakeasies. This intimate bar serves beer, wine, and tapas for lunch and dinner.
