San Antonio is surrounded by beautiful Texas getaways. Whether you want to explore nature or discover art and culture, the city’s surrounding areas encompass all that the state has to offer. Here are four of the most exciting weekend vacations within a few hours of San Antonio.
1. Fredericksburg
Fredericksburg is home to vintage boutiques, traditional German cuisine, and more than forty wineries in and around town. Be sure to schedule a private wine tour or stop by a public tasting while you’re in the area. If you’re feeling adventurous, hike up Enchanted Rock. This mini-mountain is made of pink granite and boasts some of the best sunset views of Central Texas.

2. Medina
Known for its relaxing nature and small-town feel, Medina the perfect place to recharge. Home to some of the best apple orchards in the world, you can sample delicious ciders, pies, and other sweet treats at Love Creek Orchards Cider Mill and Country Store. After some tasting, head to The Spa at Escondida for a personalized facial, hot and cool stone layout, or Swedish massage.

3. Austin
Austin is the epicenter of Texas food, culture, and nightlife. While you’re in town, check out its live music scene, street art, murals, and fun seasonal events. End your evening with a cocktail at The Roosevelt Room, Midnight Cowboy, The Townsend, or one of the sixth street bars.

4. Port Aransas
Port Aransas is located on the Texas coast. Bordering the Gulf of Mexico, the city houses over 18 miles of uninterrupted sandy shoreline, making it easy to relax on the beach or walk the coast. If you want to venture into the ocean, you could reel in a monster fish from the waterways of Port Aransas or even spot a dolphin on a private tour.
