The 4th of July is always a fun time in Texas Hill Country, and there are a ton of wonderful ways to celebrate our country’s independence across the region. Whether you’re looking for an all-day event or just an awesome fireworks display, you’re sure to find a fun 4th of July event on this list.
Fourth of July Celebration in Fredericksburg
Washington Street Parade and Fireworks at Highway 16 South, Fredericksburg
Beginning with a fun parade on Main Street from Washington to Bowie Streets, the Fourth of July Celebration in Fredericksburg is perfect if you’re looking for a fun, small-town party. Each parade entry is decked out in red, white, and blue, for a great kick-off to the Independence Day celebration. A free patriotic program takes place on the Marktplatz following the parade. In the evening, head to the golf course area of Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park or the Gillespie County Airport to view an amazing fireworks display, which begins around 9:15 p.m.
Fourth of July Fireworks
Boerne City Park, Boerne
Enjoy a patriotic fireworks display and old fashioned family picnic in the city of Boerne. The annual picnic will take you back to simpler times, with vintage family games like potato sack races and tug of war. The event also features live music from Bonnie Lang, Russel Green, Cooper Greenberg, and Marcy Grace, and delicious BBQ at the Don Strange Ranch. And while the city’s fireworks show can be viewed from a variety of places throughout the town, the Boerne City Park is the best spot for viewing. Be sure to bring your chairs and snacks when you visit the park for fireworks -- the show starts shortly after dark.
Independence Day Celebration
Comfort Park, Comfort
The annual Independence Day Celebration in Comfort begins with a parade down historic High Street beginning at 10 a.m. (but I recommend getting there by 9 a.m. to snag a great viewing location). After the parade, head to Comfort Park for some delicious BBQ and live music. The park will be filled with family fun, including face painting, games, arts and crafts activities, auctions, and an all-American pie baking contest. A fireworks display will wrap up the event at dusk.
4th of July Celebration at Luckenbach
412 Luckenbach Town Loop, Luckenbach
If classic cars and live music is more your scene, head to the 4th of July Celebration at Luckenbach to hear music from Paul Cauthen, The Peterson Brothers, and the Chubby Knuckle Choir beginning at 1 p.m. Be sure to drive your classic car, so you can join in the classic car parade at 3 p.m. Pong and washer tournaments are another fun option at this lively event.
Fourth on the River
Louise Hays Park, Kerrville
Travel to the river for the biggest and best fireworks display in Hill Country. On top of the awesome fireworks display, Fourth on the River will also feature food, vendors, bounce houses, face painting, live music from Brent Ryan, Fred Eaglesmith, Bruce Robison, and Robert Earl Kern beginning at 4 p.m. and a beer garden, which opens at 2 p.m.
4th of July Celebration at Woodlawn Lake Park
Woodlawn Lake Park, San Antonio
San Antonio’s official 4th of July celebration is held at Woodlawn Lake Park each year. The family-focused event includes games and activities for the kids, a 5k fun run, and live music from the U.S. Air Force Band of the West and Bidi Bidi Banda. The event begins at 8 a.m. and runs through the spectacular fireworks show at 9 p.m.
