Here’s what you need to know about beating the heat this summer.

Is it hot enough for you yet in Texas? Here we are, in the midst of the scorching summer. We're always looking for ways to cool off. Take the kids to SeaWorld, a local pool, or maybe a fiesta in Texas. But let's not forget about our beloved pets, dogs, and cats, who are just like family.

Every morning around 9:00 a.m., I take my puppy for a walk to beat the heat. She loves running through the sprinklers to cool down, although I also carry water for her. It's funny how she prefers drinking from the hose instead of the fancy water I bring along.

Speaking of taking care of our dogs, it's essential to protect their paws from hot pavements. Good gripper shoes or socks designed for dogs can help with that. And, of course, we should never leave them in a car, especially in scorching temperatures.

San Antonio is fantastic for dog lovers, with numerous dog parks popping up everywhere. If you're up for an adventure, check out "Barking Springs" in Austin, a water play area just for dogs. Boerne Lakes is another great place to enjoy with your pet. These dog parks usually have watering stations, shade, and food available for your convenience.

"Your furry friends need to beat the heat too."

Some pet-friendly restaurants, like Starbucks, even offer treats for your furry friends. A little cup of whipped cream can be a delightful and refreshing treat for them during the summer heat.

At home, my dogs enjoy the pool and playing with balls. I make sure to put life jackets on them when they swim because they're Frenchies and not strong swimmers. Sprinklers are another favorite as they get to control the action.

Plus, there's a cool new complex called "The Rock at La Cantera" being built by the Spurs. They're creating the largest dog park in Texas, expected to open in the fall.

While you're having fun and keeping cool in the hot Texas summer, don't forget to include your dogs in the activities. There are plenty of shaded dog parks where they can play, cool off, and have a great time with you.
